FRIDAY 30 JANUARY: First day in the new job @ UCB! :-/ It's always to scary- the first day in any new job!! You're introduced to 60 new people and you've forgotten the names of 55 of them 2 minutes later! You're so aware that people are trying to suss you out while you're trying to suss them out and you're also wanting to make a good impression at the same time. In the studio, you're wondering what all the buttons do and imagining people are thinking... "he's really not that good really- I could do better!" Anyway- I suppose I should introduce myself... I'm Juls Martin, from Belfast, (Northern Ireland). Julian to my mum and dad or whenever I've done something wrong, but everyone knows me as Juls... and yes- I'm new to UCB. Before you say it- yes I know I should've spelt it "Jules" or "Jools", but I'm rubbish at spelling... (he quickly looks back over the text above) I've been working in radio for over 20 years (I was a mere child... no really- I was!) and am still with "Commission" a radio production company in Belfast who make Christian shows and content for UCB and others. Through them I became an engineer and presenter in commercial radio in Belfast and have been involved behind the scenes and behind the mic on Sunday Breakfasts since 1996. I'm still on at the weekends in Belfast on commercial radio. So- now you know about me... it's you're turn to tell me about YOU. :) I like to be interactive and make friends with those listening, so to make me feel less nervous why not contact me and tell me I try to reply to each and every email I get (but can't guarantee the spelling will be 100%!) ;-) I look forward to hearing from you...
